Assignment Background: The Bangladesh Bureau of Educational Information and Statistics (BANBEIS) is an attached department of the Ministry of Education and is mainly responsible for providing educational and statistics for planning, management and decision making process in the education sector. BANBEIS is now focusing on qualitative survey and socioeconomic research in addition to regular quantitative survey activities. Government allocates budget for research in each fiscal year. The proposed research will be conducted under this budget. The areas of the study/research are stated in PDS.
Objectives of the Assignment: The overall aim of this study is to identify future gaps and strengths the preparedness and knowledge of secondary level teachers in implementing effectiveness strategy. To achieve the above-mentioned aim, the following specific objectives will be addressed—
- To explore Classroom Assessment: Readiness and Obstacles Faced by Educators in Secondary Schools of Bangladesh.
- To uncover the intricacies of classroom assessment by examining the level of preparedness and the challenges faced by teachers in secondary schools throughout Bangladesh.
- To examine pivotal role in evaluating students’ academic progress, identifying areas for improvement, and enhancing the overall learning experience.
- To make recommendation for overcoming this resistance and ensuring create a collaborative environment where teachers can learn from one another and share best practices, ultimately leading to improved student outcomes and a more effective education system as a whole.
Actual Services provided by SAMAHAR:
- Study team mobilization and review of secondary data;
- Develop inception report including detailed work plan, methodology, sample size, and data collection tools;
- Arrange a workshop and share the inception report and data collection tools with BANBEIS;
- Finalize data collection tools incorporating comments from meeting and submit to BANBEIS for approval;
- Develop a training schedule and share it with BANBEIS and Impart training to data collectors;
- Conduct field test for questionnaire validation and submit the outcome of field test for review;
- Finalize data collection instruments incorporating feedback from field test and submit to BANBEIS for approval;
- Conduct questionnaire survey with Students and Teachers;
- Conduct in-depth interviews with teachers of secondary School;
- Conduct KII with principal and Management Committee members of selected secondary school;
- Recruit coders and data entry operators and oversee coding, data entry, and data entry quality;
- Analyze data and develop draft report;
- Arrange a workshop to present a draft report for comments and suggestions;
- Finalize the report incorporating comments/observations of the participants of the workshop;
- Submit final report to the Director of BANBEIS
