SAMAHAR’s Visiting Fellowship Programme offers a unique opportunity for accomplished scholars and researchers with proven experience in areas aligned with the organization’s ongoing research and socio-economic development agenda. This initiative aims to foster a mutually beneficial partnership between Samahar and the Visiting Fellow, with potential for long-term collaboration in shared fields of interest. Applications are especially encouraged from Bangladeshi and non-resident Bangladeshi academics, researchers, and professionals.
The fellowship involves active engagement in Samahar’s research activities over a set period—typically between 2 and 6 months. There is no fixed start date, allowing flexibility for applicants.
During the fellowship, Visiting Fellows are expected to:
- Conduct research related to Samahar’s priority areas;
- Contribute to ongoing development initiatives;
- Develop concept notes and research proposals for future joint projects;
- Mentor junior researchers and support their professional development;
- Present their research in Samahar-hosted seminars;
- Represent Samahar at relevant events and meetings, as advised;
- Participate in other agreed-upon activities.
SAMAHAR provides the following support to Visiting Fellows:
- A designated workspace equipped with computer and essential logistics;
- Research assistance as outlined in the fellow’s activity plan;
- A dedicated liaison person to support the Fellow’s work and coordination.
The position is full-time, and Fellows are not permitted to engage in other paid activities during their stay. Access to SAMAHAR’s institutional resources is granted solely for the purpose of the Fellow’s research. All publications resulting from the fellowship will be copyrighted by SAMAHAR.
Fellows are expected to be on sabbatical or supported by fellowships, grants, or institutional leave from their home institutions. In exceptional cases, SAMAHAR may offer a direct contract for specific assignments.
Application Process:
Interested individuals should submit:
- An updated CV;
- A summary of professional experience and publications;
- Research interests;
- Expected outcomes from the programme;
- Tentative dates of availability and duration of stay.
Applications are reviewed by SAMAHAR’s Evaluation Committee. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted to finalize the terms.
