SAMAHAR-

Multidisciplinary Research and Development Foundation

SAMAHAR–Multidisciplinary Research and Development Foundation is well equipped with a diverse range of resources that enable it to efficiently manage its activities, advance research, and support socio-economic development across various sectors such as science, health, technology, education, environment, and social sciences. These resources are utilized to deliver multiple services, including social development initiatives; research and consultancy; resettlement and rehabilitation support; skills, employment, and entrepreneurship development; and economic empowerment programs.

The organization is actively engaged in both urban and rural regions of Bangladesh, working independently or alongside other development agencies to assist underprivileged and marginalized populations. To date, SAMAHAR has completed approximately 265 projects, tackling various development issues across the country.

With this extensive experience, SAMAHAR delivers a comprehensive range of services such as conducting surveys, resettlement planning and land acquisition, building institutional capacity, offering livelihood and skills training, performing impact assessments, advancing education, managing environmental initiatives, conducting policy research, and supporting economic development. Its areas of focus include health, WASH, agriculture, infrastructure, gender equity, climate adaptation, microfinance, and poverty reduction.

SAMAHAR, as a research and development organization, has built a strong institutional capacity grounded in a shared foundation of key resources—human, financial, physical, technological, informational, and reputational. Through effective management and strategic use of these resources, SAMAHAR works to fulfill its mission and ensure long-term sustainability.

Human Resources: SAMAHAR employs a total of 863 individuals, including staff and management, whose skills, experience, and expertise drive the organization’s work. For the development arm, this includes committed volunteers and specialized advocates; for the multidisciplinary research division, it involves highly trained researchers, data analysts, and subject experts. SAMAHAR has maintained a robust pool of such professionals for nearly three decades, consistently delivering high-quality services.

Financial Resources: The organization is supported by solid financial assets such as cash reserves, investments, credit access, and funding streams for its projects, programs, and studies. As both a development organization and a research firm, SAMAHAR depends on contracts and agreements that outline project terms and investment commitments.

Physical Resources: SAMAHAR utilizes various tangible assets, including office buildings, facilities, equipment, vehicles, and supplies. For research purposes, this extends to computing infrastructure; as a civil society organization, it also includes community units and other operational tools.

Technological Resources: With the aid of essential tools, software, systems, and IT infrastructure, SAMAHAR supports its daily operations, decision-making processes, and communication. These technologies range from basic office applications to advanced analytical platforms, specialized research software, data visualization tools, and communication systems.

Informational/Intellectual Resources: SAMAHAR recognizes the importance of data, knowledge, copyrights, processes, and proprietary information. Primary and secondary research data, analytical frameworks, and published reports form the organization’s core intellectual assets.

Reputational Resources:  The organization places great value on customer satisfaction, public perception, brand identity, and overall institutional image. Its strong reputation—whether as a CSO or a research firm—serves as a vital intangible asset that fosters trust, attracts support, and upholds credibility in addressing social needs.

Relational/Social Resources: SAMAHAR prioritizes relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, partners, suppliers, community groups, and government agencies. As a CSO, its community networks and coalitions are essential for advocacy and program implementation. As a research firm, strong ties with stakeholders and a skilled team of researchers further enhance its effectiveness. )
