Project Background: Child labour is a serious threat to humanitarian causes in Bangladesh. Eradication of Hazardous Child Labour in Bangladesh (4th Phase) project is initiated to reduce the number of hazards child labor through direct interventions aiming at the withdrawal, social protection and rehabilitation, to develop the children as human resource and self-independent in future by providing them some market – oriented skill develop training., to provide credit facilities to parents of children to reduce their dependency on children’s income; to ensure the rights of the children involved in hazardous child labour; to shift the children from the hazardous sector to a friendly sectors.

Objectives of the Assignment: The objectives of the assignment are to provide Non-Formal Education (NFE) & Skill Development Training (SDT) through multipurpose centers (MPCs) to 1,00,000 (one lac) children aged between 10-16 years engaged in different identified hazardous work to shift them from hazardous works to decent one and mainstream education. Two interventions have been chosen to achieve the primary objective. These are─

  • Impart Non-Formal Education (NFE) of six months’ duration to selected children;
  • Impart skills development training (SDT) of four months’ duration to selected children

Actual Services provided by SAMAHAR:

  • Design and organize the multipurpose Centers (MPCs) as per the specification of the project authority;
  • Select children for NFE and SDT from the specified areas engaged in identified ‘hazardous works’.
  • Impart Non-Formal Education (NFE) of six months’ duration to selected children (training module & syllabus should be supplied by the bidders).
  • Impart skills development training (SDT) of four months’ duration to selected children (training module & syllabus should be supplied by the bidders).
  • Motivate and aware parents/guardians/employers of the selected children to cooperate and participate to make the programme a success.
  • Supply syllabus and training & other materials to selected children.
  • Follow uniform syllabus for NFE and SDT supplied by the project authority.
  • Organize the centers in such a way that 25 children can be selected for each centers for NFE 20 children can be selected for SDT.
