Implementation of Skills & Social Development Training Program (Income and Livelihood Restoration Program) under Coal Based Thermal Power Plant Project of Acquired 1834-acre Land at Rampal, Bagerhat, Bangladesh

Project Location: Rampal, Bagerhat, Bangladesh

Project Authority: Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB)

Project Background: Ensured skill development training and providing post-training entrepreneurship support, business linkage, promoting support for wage and self-employment employment support mentorship program, business counselling, women empowerment and economic engagement support for 1741 affected populations and most of the women beneficiaries;

Actual Services provided by SAMAHAR:

  • Review approach and beneficiary criteria adopted under the project and design instrument for beneficiary listing and methods of their scrutiny, sorting and selection inclusive of all social groups and vulnerabilities
  • Review all Relevant Project Data and Baseline Data on existing livelihood pattern and opportunities
  • Setup the training center with all facilities with furniture, fixture, training equipment, fan, provision of pure drinking water, separate toilets for male and female trainees etc.
  • Conduct household survey using the survey instrument provided by the MIS cell. The survey will be conducted electronically using Tab
  • Design and Carry Out Training Need Assessment Survey
  • Implementation of training program
  • Identify different groups and implement the skill and social development program
  • Collecting labor market information and using it to identify the relevant pathway for social development and employment for targeted beneficiaries.
  • Design and implementing the stakeholder engagement and social inclusion strategy
  • Organize module/curriculum adaptation workshop with respected stakeholders.
  • Develop modules of life skills, mentoring and leadership training and prepare session plan.
  • Conduct training on social norm and gender-sensitization.
  • Training on Small Business and Commercial Activities, Small Business management and financial Training, raining on establishment/re-establishment of small enterprises.
  • Conduct training on social norm and gender-sensitization the training contents
  • Collecting labor market information and using it to identify the relevant channel for social development and employment for targeted beneficiaries
  • Identification of vulnerable groups including female headed households and provide skills enhancement training for vulnerable persons/ households
  • Conduct training in low to mid-level skills to prepare them for work or entrepreneurial support in becoming a micro-enterprise
  • Follow up, monitor, and supervise the trainee’s progress and performance, and facilitate linkages with potential employers for future employment opportunities.
  • Disbursement of Grant to Training Participant
  • Prepare survey report focusing on major trades, prospects and job opportunities
  • Provide career advice with an agreed individual learning and development plan
  • Monitoring and Evaluation of the Training Program by developing a process for tracking beneficiary progress
  • Conduct assessment and issue professional certificates for completion of Skills
  • Design and Delivery of Personal Finance Program
  • Integrated approach at the local levels integrated with master communication strategy
  • Identify eligible beneficiaries for enterprise development.
  • Create platform to facilitate job placement/ skill development / business facilitation through networking and market development considering global job/business demands.
  • Ensure 80% job placement (Self/wage employment) of trainees.
  • Development of user friendly Menu-driven software for monitoring progress
  • Support to PMU for project monitoring, evaluation and validation activities which will be conducted by the MIS Cell
  • Preparation of progress report, yearly report and project completion report.
